Returning to Wellington for their second competition, Come On and Shawna were the first ride at 8:00 am. They placed second out of 21 riders in the Prix St. Georges with a 67.83%, just 0.10% behind the winning score. Come On was trying hard but was a bit tired and flat in the test. The week before the event was a long one, spent working with US Team Coach Klaus Balkenhol on a higher degree of collection. Come On just wasn’t quite on for the test, and a late flying change in their canter half passes cost them the win.
For the Intermediare I, Shawna and Come On got some help from Olympian Michelle Gibson. He felt felt fantastic in the warm up getting better bend and compression in his collected work. Shawna and Come On were flying with all 7’s and 8’s in their trot and walk tours. The Canter Zig Zag went well and the extended canter got 8’s across the board. They got into trouble in the first canter pirouette to the right. Come On got panicked and took off for a few strides. This got them unfortunately off course and resulted in -2 from all judges and 0 for the movement. Come On had a small mistake in the 3-tempi’s and ended up 5th with a 66.41%.
