On the first day of the USDF Region 3 Championships, Shawna and her 3 students each placed in their class. Shawna and Come On III won the Fourth Level Open Championship.
The day began with unseasonably cold temperatures in the 30’s at sunrise. High winds and blowing dust added another challenge for both horses and riders. Come On was very fresh and aware of his surroundings, which posed a challenge for Shawna to keep him focused during the test. Under these difficult conditions, Shawna scored 65.326% to win by more than 2 percentage points. This was Come On’s first Championshipship level victory in the United States. With this prestigious win, the pair continue their successful ways with 15 firsts in 16 events on since returning to the U.S.
Shawna’s three students fared well also, capturing a second, fifth and eighth in their classes:
- Meghan McKoy - 2nd in the Junior/Young Rider First Level - Test 3 with a score of 71.429%.
- Alexandra Pratt - 5th in the Second Level - Test 1 Adult Amateur class.
- Diana Wood - 8th in the Second Level Open Championship.
Team Shawna Harding has five more classes tomorrow, the final day of the event. Shawna will be riding the Prix St. Georges in the morning and the Fourth Level Freestyle in the afternoon.
